In memoriam 7/29/2011

Hungry tawny tabbies
Visiting in tandem
You were by far the strongest
Our choice of names not random
Closest to the action
When sustenance was near
Out of nowhere, there you were
As morsels would appear
One winter day you'd sadly lose
Your fearful feline friend
Departed from his earthly woes
Claimed by abandonment
Often you'd go roaming
Your outdoor realm was great
Whereto did you wander?
We worried and would wait
Slinked back to sleep amongst the rags
And if truth be told
You energy eroded
You weren't really bold
Because you grew so listless
And seemed to lose your stealth
We brought you to a healer
To verify your health
Alas, our good intentions
Abruptly went awry
The vicious virus vanquished you
Sweet Sassafras, goodbye.
