Let violinist Dorothea Barth add the elegant, expressive warmth of a solo violin to your Southern California celebration!
In the spring of 2012 Dorothea relocated to Southern California from the San Francisco Bay area (where for a decade she played for many events in the Napa and Sonoma Wine Country).
Now residing in Fallbrook, a popular wedding destination, Dorothea is available to bring beautiful violin music to your wedding in San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, or Los Angeles County. She is conveniently located near the Temecula Wine Country, home to many beautiful wedding venues.
Her diverse repertory includes classical, baroque, renaissance, and medieval selections as well as jazz, Celtic, musical theater, and nostalgic American and international ballads. Her violin music can also provide a romantic atmosphere in fine restaurants and lend a touch of class to your holiday event.
Dorothea Barth received her music degree from Stanford University. Her early teachers include Karel Blaas, Alice Schoenfeld, Kenneth Fiske, and Kenneth Goldsmith. She completed nearly 3 years of advanced study with Dr. David Margetts in Fresno, CA.
While living in Northern California, she performed with the Solano Community Symphony, the Baroque Sinfonia of Sonoma County, the Vallejo Symphony, the Vallejo Choral Society, and the American Recorder Orchestra of the West.
She frequently performs with her husband Bert, who plays various recorders (wooden flutes).
Dorothea Barth is also a writer whose article on wedding ceremony music (Music for a Perfect Moment) appeared in Portland Bride and Groom and Weddings in Houston. Other music essays, interviews, and stories have been published in these magazines and journals:
