Beledi's enchantment
So easy when first met
Yet not so long thereafter
Came doubt and sore regret
What sowed such seeds unsettling?
My feet too big, my waist not small
With bones and gait suggesting
I ought not dance at all!
Not far away in Hollywood
Illusions rage and reign
And beledi's believers
Absorb, reflect such pain
Harsh words heard in haste
Oh but let them drift and be!
But then, a vengeful antidote:
My critic now is me!
Joana's dance awakened
The grace, the honesty so fierce!
A universe forgotten
Our mysteries to pierce
The stirring passion of her words
Her wisdom to dispel
The lies that might devour a dance
Erase the stories still to tell
In seeking truth and silence
Old anguish turns to art
The only size that matters:
The largeness of our heart
